This village is situated on the banks of the reservoir of the same name, on the provincial border with Guadalajara, just an hour and a half from Madrid, an hour from Cuenca, and forty-five minutes from Guadalajara. Rural tourism can truly be enjoyed here, at the Buendía Reservoir, the Route of Faces, Recópolis and a variety of campsites. On the first weekend of May, Buendía celebrates the festival of the transfer of the Virgin of Los Desamparados from her Shrine into town. The second weekend of September another festival is held, and the virgin is returned to her shrine.
