The intense history of Uclés is etched into its territory, to the delight of visitors. This tiny town has played an extremely important role in diverse moments throughout history, a fact that is reflected in the local heritage. From the archaeological remains that have been preserved, to the Roman heritage (this village was a site on the network of Roman roads that connected the cities of Segóbriga, Ercávica and Valeria) considerable traces were also left by the Visigoths, the Arabs, and the Order of Santiago.

MONUMENTS AND MUSEUMS:

  • Conventual house of the Order of Santiago, declared a National Monument in 1931, contains a blend of styles: Plateresque, Baroque, and the style made famous by Juan de Herrera.
  • Ayuntamiento from the 17th century, with portico and a series of arches.
  • 16th century grain elevator.
  • Noble houses that once belonged to the Pareja y Cedillo, the Torre, and the Fernández y Contreras families.
